Hi, I’m Greg Vedders. I work in Information Security and spend a lot of my time solving problems that do not always have obvious answers.
I work in higher education, where most issues are figured out through a mix of experience, persistence, and occasionally trying something that probably should not work but somehow does.
What you’ll find here
Most of this site revolves around security, systems, and troubleshooting. The kinds of problems where the documentation is incomplete or the behavior does not quite make sense.
I also spend time exploring AI and other emerging tech, mostly looking at how it actually works in practice rather than how it is marketed.
Other things that show up here
Not everything here is strictly technical. If something catches my interest, whether that is Spotify, weather, photography, or a small side project, it may show up here too.
Why this site exists
Most problems do not come with clean documentation. This is a collection of notes from things I have learned, tested, or worked through. If you are dealing with something similar, hopefully something here helps.
